In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

  • The cinematography of the moment where frank says "i need to find a one year old", then hears a baby in the silence, and starts running is just superb

  • I feel a little uncomfortable with Greg mocking a disabled woman's inability to open her hands (there's a reason he high fived her left hand, because it could open up the most). And equally uncomfortable at how successful all the white people were compared to Ramesh.... and how that didn't get mentioned at all, even though xenophobia was an obvious factor in the rankings

    BridgejonesroxBridgejonesroxMåned siden
    • @Khang Truong it took the brown man over an hour, what was the next longest time? Not even half an hour? It's funny to joke about Ramesh's dour expression, but it would be realistic to admit that old white people are not very likely to respond to a brown man holding a sign vs a white person. I just think it would have been responsible for someone to acknowledge the xenophobia. Still a funny task

      BridgejonesroxBridgejonesroxMåned siden
    • How? The rankings were based solely on how long it took each of them to high five a 55 year old. Ramesh took longer than the other four.

  • Why not count in Julian Years? Lunar Years? Martian Years? Just figure out which year makes you 55, and then high-five yourself.

    LJTwiggyLJTwiggy2 måneder siden
    • You could argue that since the Moon revolves around the Earth, a “Lunar Year” is actually ~29.5 Terran days. I wouldn’t say that a Terran year measured by the revolution of the Moon can be justifiably called a “Lunar” year.

      LJTwiggyLJTwiggy2 måneder siden
    • Your Julian age is the same as your Gregorian age unless you were born before 1900. I think the only purely lunar calendar in use is the Islamic calendar, which is about 3% faster than Gregorian. So 53 western years would be about 55 Hijri.

    • The slowburn development of their relationship really ties all the series together, imo. It's also the closest thing to a plot this show has. I mean I know it's a panel show, but Greg and Alex are clearly playing characters and Alex always says TM is almost like a sitcom.

    • Same. Hurts to watch Tim Key's segment. Stuff like this sends me into a moral crisis. What kinds of unsolicited asks from strangers seem appropriate or not? Don't think there's an exactly right answer but it's heady stuff. And part of my social anxiety stems from not wanting to hurt / harm others. And I don't give a tosh about "they can choose to not feel hurt" because I can also choose not to accost them. It's all so muddled.
